"I have more confidence. I stand taller, and not simply because I have better posture. I feel good inside and out, which makes me a better mom and better wife."
Farmgirlfit Cd’A
Dental Assistant for Dr. Delwyn Dick, DDS
A girlfriend of mine had just moved from a CrossFit gym to Farmgirlfit. She really loved it! At the time, I was working out at home, and she knew I was struggling, so she invited me to try FGF for free. I was nervous, but I gave it a shot. That was nearly 2 years ago. While I still get “pre-race jitters,” I would not change my decision!
I wanted to be fit and healthy for myself and for my family. My husband is an outdoorsy type of person. I wanted to be able to at least keep up with him; especially during hunting season, and I wanted to be strong. Having children means I have an obligation to not only care for them, but also to care for myself, so I can be my best for them. That’s where Farmgirlfit comes in. They teach discipline, but motivate. They encourage as well as mold healthy minds, bodies, and spirits. The coaches and ladies who attend are a true support system for fitness and for life.
Plate pushes for sure! I use to loath them and now I get excited. Plate pushes have helped train me to run, okay jog, for longer periods of time and for longer distances.
The darn pull-ups! I really want to do a strict pull-up, which I know takes some extra work, and I need to get out of my own head…Yes, I CAN!
That is a tough one because I love so many exercises. I would have to say either partner work or sumo deadlifts. Working out with a partner keeps me accountable to work hard, and gives the extra support when you don’t feel like you can do anymore! Sumo are tough, but my gainzzz have been amazing – talk about feeling strong!
Rowing! I can work through power cleans, but rowing just is NOT my favorite thing.
I want nice abs, I want nice abs, I want nice abs. Ugh. I might die. I might die. BUT. I. Want. Nice. Abs! ;)
All of them! Seriously I just love music. 90% of what is playing is what I will be humming along to.
Comradery – There is nothing like working out with ladies who fully support you.
My favorite memory has to be Samantha and Marcia giving me 5 burpees for negative self-talk while doing tire flips. I left to get my littlest daughter to dance class and pick-up my son from pep-band. But the very next class, at the end when we were all very tired, those two lovely ladies reminded me of said burpees and watched as I completed all 5. True, only 5, but after a tough and rewarding workout they were difficult. The moral? There is no need for negative self-talk, ladies. The world has enough negativity. Love yourself!
I have more confidence. I stand taller, and not simply because I have better posture. I feel good inside and out, which makes me a better mom and better wife.
I am a dental assistant and I just love what I do. Aside from that I am a mom and a wife. When I am not at work, I am at dance class with my girls, or listening to musical instruments at home as my children practice their drum(s) and violin. More often than not, I am refereeing a scrimmage that has broken out amongst 2 or all 3 of my children, but that is life, right? I do love to visit with my own friends when I have the time – I really should get better at setting aside more time for them – Goals for the New Year!
The beach? I love the heat! Currently my happy place, as we are now into winter, is at home on the couch with a blanket, some tea, my family, and a warm fire.
My mom. She is such a strong lady and has been through so much, but she never stops moving forward. “Brandi,” she tells me, “the world doesn’t stop spinning because we are hurting. Don’t give up and never stop praying.”
Hmmmm I pretty much talk all the time so I don’t know if there is something I have left unsaid. I’m terrified of heights. It just gets worse as I age.
Donuts. Hands down.
Of my family and myself. Truly. Life has changed dramatically this last year and for that I am truly grateful.
New members: Don’t walk away because you think you can’t do it or you are intimidated. It does get easier. Muscles become less sore as your strength grows. Don’t give up. Quitting is forever. (Right, Brandy?) Fellow farmgirls? Heck I am always looking to them for motivation, advice, and new techniques, so I guess, THANK YOU!
